Heaven smiles when the earth cries....together
I believe the earth cries. Every time mankind caves into itself, the earth bursts into uncontrollable wailing, releasing a tense atmosphere of a deep sense of loss, so choking and stifling that it virtually sucks away the free air and leaves you grasping for breath? That kind of emotion that comes with the weather? Mournful, empty and ultimately heavy. Its that kind of time when you feel your heart taking an extra weight and your body seemingly "over-obeys" gravity by stubbornly sticking to the ground; thereby making movement slurry and painful.
Such a feeling easily irritates the heart, especially for those with weak hearts and before long, the eyes develop nausea and begin vomiting liquid. When we experience tragedy, especially close to the heart, our earth i.e. the world all around is covered in dark clouds, the air becomes thinner and smells of death. Yes, our earth, our world does cry; our individual worlds does shed tears.
I also believe heaven cries. Before you crucify me and call me an anti-christ for attempting to "discredit" such a perfect place, let me tell you why i make such assertion. Heaven does cry and by the way things are going with humans, theres been a lot of crying lately. When humans subdue themselves instead of the earth as God commanded, i bet the earth cries. When we kill ourselves, commit infanticide and harbor hatred for each other, heaven cries.
I bet there was a lot of crying throughout the World Wars, Civil Wars, Gulf Wars, Middle East crises and all the bloody genocide that has gone on in Africa and the Balkans. When destinies were cut short and lives changed forever, heavens cries. And theres still more death going on and unfortunately more is yet to come and heaven will still cry a lot more, how sad indeed to imagine the hosts of heaven spends time crying when there’s a lot of praises, protection and messages to be done.
Yes, heaven does cry.
My article is actually about heaven smiling isn't it? Yes, just as heaven cries, it also; on few occasions....and very few ones at that recently smile. Heaven smiles every time we work together, every time we stand together, when we help each other and even when we cry together. I guess when the World's attention went to the rising poverty in Africa in the early eighties thanks to the USA for Africa led by all All-American Star line up led by Micheal Jackson and Lionel Richie, heaven probably smiled. When the world said "No" the stoning of women in Saudi Arabia , Iraq and Afghanistan, i'm guessing the heavens smiled.
When the tragedy of 9/11 brought the world to its knees when two planes brought down buildings that housed people of almost all nationalities, heavens surely cried, but i believe heaven stuck together when the world stood up against terrorists (or whoever). The heavens also stood in joy when the world stood up for victims of the New Orleans natural disaster caused by Hurricane Katrina and the Tsunami in South East Asia. Even more recent, another deadly attack by Mother Nature on the impoverished nation of Haiti brought the focus and attention in aid and sympathy from nations and people all over the world. The heavens smiled. Now, I think there’s a big smile spread across the great expanse of the heavens. Its smiling time now as the world once again rallies around for their own. Today, attention is now focused on the long, narrow, corridor-like coastal strip bordering Argentina, Peru and Bolivia. Chile is now in our sights.
For 33 men; husbands, fathers and breadwinners trapped 2,500 kilometers underground, hopes, prayer, unrelenting drilling and technology has come to play. The world waits in faith and hope for the safe return of all the trapped miners, even from distances as far as Mgbuoba, a small residential district in Rivers State where I find myself at the moment, I’m monitoring the progress of work there. I stand together with many others all around the globe in hope and that all will be well and these men will be returned to the families safely.
As I write this, I can still the see the smile spread across heaven.
