I've kept my silence long enough. Part 3

I may sound like im a Jonathan Supporter, maybe I am, maybe not. But im an optimist, a believer. I'm not a member of that vague group called "Poor Masses". Basically, I can feed myself, I think of how to earn money. Not doing anything makes me a member of the Poor masses. I am not. I dont pretend as though there isnt corruption, yes there is...everywhere. We will root it out one step at a time, lets stop fooling ourselves that we can stop it outrightly. If we think we can, we fool ourselves.

Olusegun Obasanjo was no perfect man, but he got the job done. He never shied away from fighting a rebel group, he knew how to take out his enemies politically; i dont think he ever killed anyone. He was just wiser. Today, we look back at his legacies and appreciate what he did. He was perhaps the most insulted and vilfied leader of our time, today he is respected. Havent we learned? The people fighting him then, a.k.a NLC are today Governors and legislators. Have they faired any better?

Things will work if we are patient. The satellite we abused OBJ for buying was the saviour to the US during Hurricane Katrina wasnt it? What are we talking about? Why cant we just thank God? When all this laudable policies start working, i promise to buy a full centerspread in 3 national dailies and post an article saying "Civil Society, Labour & Opposition Leaders: Where is your sting?"

State governments have hidden under the focus on the federal government to do as they like. If this nation was broken into pieces (God forbid), I can say that only 3 states will thrive on thier own, and that is a subject to a long period of wobbly walking. What are the LG chairmen doing? State Governments? is there private sector participation? Do you know what recurrent expenditure mean? It means Paying Salaries of government workers which takes a huge chunk of the budget, leaving little for Capital expenditure for infrastructure development.

Have we gone to strike over the bad roads, the huge amounts for Recurrent Expenditure? Labour wont ask govt to reduce its workforce not because of unemployment rise but because: Whose gonna pay monthly labour levies?, Whose gonna come out and protest? What did the labour leadership provide its members for self sustenance if and when they leave public service? Have we ever heard of labour organizing sensitization workshops? Empowerment grants? No.

Whats the job of Labour?
