The new trend of Baby Daddy & Baby Mamas in Nigerian showbiz

Olamide, Tayo Faniran, Ice Prince Zamani, Kayswitch, Obafemi Martins, Peter & Paul Okoye, Innocent (2Face) Idibia, Oritsefemi, Terry G, May D, Flavour, 9ice, Seun Kuti, Timaya, Patoranking, Wizkid, IK Ogbonna. Yeah, they all have the same thing in common, they are showbiz personalities, some rich, all extremely popular and they are all Baby Daddies.

It has become commonplace nowadays to hear of some girl willingly getting pregnant for a musician or actor and the story sticks and we all have to swallow it. Or do we? What happened to getting married and having kids and raising them as husband and wife? Since when did we start copying the Baby Daddy Syndrome?

There was a point in our nationhood and in the society where it was a taboo to father a child outside wedlock, our new breed entertainment employees have decided to lead the new trend and begin a lifestyle that will soon become a norm. Its really depressing to know that the present crop of entertainers have no idea of the warped influence they wield. From the songs they sing to the videos they shoot and the lives they live generally, some young guy somewhere is trying to be like them in every way- good or bad.

Looking through the names again, we can all agree that they ALL are the hottest names in the Industry today with International Awards, fat bank accounts and multi-million naira endorsements but not so lucrative albums though. But all hope is not lost as there are still some kingpins topping charts today are not in the same mold.....yet. Names like Davido, Dbanj, Don Jazzy, MI, Phyno (?), Iyanya, Praiz, IllBliss, Mr Raw, Akpororo, Zoro, Yung El, Shakar EL, Supersam etc.
